The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission (NITI Aayog) and AICTE, has launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, set to become the world’s largest school hackathon.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the initiative, calling it a step toward creating a culture of innovation and self-reliance among school students.
The Buildathon will engage over 1 crore students from 1.5 lakh schools (classes VI–XII), encouraging them to design innovative solutions around four themes — Vocal for Local, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, and Samriddh Bharat.

- Registration: September 23 – October 6, 2025
- National Live Innovation Event: October 13, 2025
- Submission Deadline: October 31, 2025
- Evaluation: November – December 2025
- Results & Awards: January 2026
Over 1,000 winning teams will be recognised at the district, state, and national levels, with awards worth ₹1 crore. Selected ideas will also receive long-term mentorship, patent support, and incubation opportunities.
Minister Pradhan said, “This Buildathon will spark an innovation renaissance and make students drivers of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
