Lucknow, August 19, 2025 — In a landmark move to nurture global leadership, the Uttar Pradesh government—under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath—has inaugurated the “Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Chevening Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme”. This ambitious initiative, launched today, will annually send five meritorious UP students to study for a master’s degree in the United Kingdom, fully funded through a strategic partnership with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)

Over the next three academic years—2025-26 through 2027-28—each selected student will receive comprehensive support covering tuition, research and exam fees, a monthly living allowance, and round-trip economy airfare The Times of India+1. The total scholarship value per student is estimated between £38,048 and £42,076 (approximately ₹45–48 lakh), with roughly £19,800 (₹23 lakh) borne by the UP government, and the remaining funded by the UK’s FCDO

CM Yogi Adityanath described the scholarship as a “powerful platform” to transform UP’s education landscape and cultivate youthful leaders on the global stage, invoking the legacy of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron highlighted that the collaboration strengthens educational and diplomatic ties between UP and the UK, especially in the wake of recent agreements like the Trade Agreement and Vision 35 signed during Prime Minister Modi’s UK visit
