New Delhi, November 2025:
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the launch of the Youth AI Challenge 2025-26, a nationwide initiative designed to equip young minds with artificial intelligence skills and inspire innovation for social good.

The challenge invites students between 13 and 21 years of age to develop AI-driven projects that address pressing local and global challenges. Higher education institutions across India have been urged to participate by mentoring student teams and supporting their project development.

The Youth AI Challenge focuses on several key innovation tracks, including:

  • Empowering communities through technology-based social impact projects.
  • Transforming key sectors such as education, agriculture, and healthcare with AI-enabled solutions.
  • Building future-ready infrastructure that supports sustainability and smart growth.
  • Encouraging open innovation where young creators can experiment and collaborate across disciplines.

Participants will have the opportunity to take part in mentorship programs, bootcamps, and national-level showcases, where top projects will be recognized and rewarded. The initiative aims to build a strong foundation for India’s next generation of AI leaders and problem solvers.

According to UGC, the Youth AI Challenge aligns with India’s vision of nurturing an AI-ready generation that can contribute meaningfully to national development, research, and entrepreneurship.

The program encourages universities, colleges, and schools to promote participation widely and foster an ecosystem of creativity, collaboration, and responsible AI use among students.
