Hyderabad: In a major boost to India’s startup and innovation ecosystem, the Telangana government has announced a ₹1,000 crore startup fund in collaboration with Google. The announcement was made as Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the Google for Startups (GfS) Hub at T-Hub in Hyderabad.
Notably, this marks Google’s first Google for Startups hub in India and the fifth globally, reinforcing Hyderabad’s position as a leading startup and technology hub in the country.
Ambitious Vision for Telangana’s Startup Ecosystem
Addressing young entrepreneurs and innovators at the launch event, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged startups to aim high and think globally.
“The next Google should be born from here, in Hyderabad. If not Google, at least you should build a $1-billion company, a unicorn. Our goal is to build at least 100 unicorns by 2034 and transform Telangana into a $1-trillion economy,” the Chief Minister said.
The newly announced ₹1,000 crore fund is expected to strengthen access to capital for early-stage and growth-stage startups, particularly those working in emerging technologies.
Google for Startups Hub at T-Hub
As part of the collaboration, Google will operate the Google for Startups hub from T-Hub, Telangana’s flagship startup incubation centre. The hub will focus on incubating product-focused and AI-driven startups from across the state.
Under the programme, selected startups will receive:
- One year of dedicated coworking space at T-Hub
- Hands-on mentoring from Google experts
- Access to advanced AI and ML technologies
- Product development and user experience guidance
- Global networking opportunities through Google’s startup ecosystem
Google’s Commitment to Deep-Tech Innovation
Speaking at the event, Arjit Sarker, Site Head, Google Hyderabad, said that Google aims to support startups solving complex, real-world problems.
“Bring any deep-tech problem to us, and we will find you the help. We want startups to focus on solving bigger challenges,” he said.
Google will also provide mentorship in areas such as marketing, scaling products, and accessing international markets.
State Government’s Economic Goals
Finance Minister Sridhar Babu, who was also present at the event, highlighted the state’s long-term economic aspirations.
“We have a dream of a ₹3-trillion economy. Many question it, but without a dream, progress is not possible,” he said, encouraging startups to take advantage of the growing availability of funds and policy support.
Strengthening India’s Startup Landscape
The collaboration between Telangana and Google is expected to significantly accelerate innovation, job creation, and deep-tech entrepreneurship in the state. With policy backing, funding support, and global mentorship, Telangana aims to position itself as a global destination for AI and technology startups.
