Nagpur, Sept. 29, 2025:
To commemorate World Heart Day, the Department of Zoology, Shri Shivaji Science College, Nagpur, in collaboration with KIMS Kingsway Hospital, organized a one-day workshop titled “Rescue Ready: Hands-on CPR Training for Every Heart.” The event aimed to spread awareness about cardiovascular emergencies and equip participants with essential life-saving skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The workshop featured Dr. Rupesh Purushottam Bokade, Consultant and Head, Department of Emergency Medicine and Trauma, KIMS Kingsway Hospital, as the Chief Guest. Drawing from over a decade of experience in emergency and critical care, Dr. Bokade emphasized the life-saving potential of immediate CPR during sudden cardiac arrest.
“Every trained hand can be a heartbeat restored. CPR is not just a medical skill but a community responsibility,” he said, inspiring students and faculty alike.
Dr. Mudassir Ali Nayyar, Life Support Instructor at KIMS Kingsway Hospital, led the hands-on training session, demonstrating step-by-step CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants using mannequins. Participants actively practiced the procedures, gaining confidence in responding to real-life medical emergencies.
The program commenced with floral tributes to the institution’s visionary founders, followed by a welcome address from Principal Dr. O. S. Deshmukh. The event was coordinated under the guidance of Prof. A. D. Bobdey, Head of the Department of Zoology, and Dr. Shital Deshmukh, Convener of the program. Faculty members and students took part enthusiastically, reflecting the college’s strong commitment to community health education.
The workshop also addressed safety protocols, legal considerations for first responders, and the global message of World Heart Day 2025 — “Every Heart Matters.”
The session was efficiently conducted by Khushboo Sheikh, while Mansi Gawande delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the hospital team, faculty, and students for making the event a success.
By organizing this impactful initiative, Shri Shivaji Science College reaffirmed its dedication to promoting public health awareness and empowering individuals with critical, life-saving knowledge.
