India is making progress, but investment in R&D is still not enough. The country spends only 0.64% of its GDP on research—far below global leaders. While programs like ANRF, Atal Innovation Mission, and AI Centres of Excellence show promise, funding is often delayed or underutilized.
Young researchers need more support, better infrastructure, and stronger industry-academia links. India has talent—but to truly lead in innovation, it must spend more, simplify funding access, and focus on converting research into real-world impact.
