Bengaluru, August 2025 — The Karnataka government’s ambitious Study Abroad initiative, under the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation (KVTSDC) and the Department of Skill Development, has garnered registrations from over 5,000 aspirants, marking a significant stride in expanding global education access for students across the state.

Initiative Overview

The initiative, launched through an extensive Study Abroad Expo held at Hotel Lalit Ashok on August 17, brought together over 60 internationally reputed universities, offering students direct interactions, admissions guidance, and valuable insights into global education opportunities.

Key highlights of the expo included:

  • Spot scholarships and on-the-spot eligibility assessments
  • One-on-one discussions with university representatives
  • Support for admissions, visa procedures, financial planning, language proficiency, and health insurance
  • No agency fees and zero-cost participation for students

Financial Support & Post-Departure Services

To help students navigate financial constraints, a collaboration with public and private banks was established. Notably, Karnataka Bank pledged student-friendly education loan packages during the expo.

Furthermore, the state promises comprehensive post-departure support—including welfare assistance, academic monitoring, and legal aid—creating a robust support system beyond national borders, distinguishing this program from private alternatives.

Government Perspective

Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, emphasized the scheme’s inclusive vision:

“Studying abroad is no longer a privilege reserved for the wealthy. With our government’s initiative, even students from economically weaker backgrounds can now pursue higher education overseas without financial burden.”

He hailed the expo as a “gateway to global education that leaves no one behind.”

Registration & Access

Students eager to participate could register through the official portal studyabroad.ksdckarnataka.com or walk in at the expo. Guidance was tailored for both final-year students and recent graduates seeking higher education abroad.

What the Scheme Means for Aspirants

  • Breaking Barriers: Democratizes study-abroad opportunities for diverse socio-economic backgrounds
  • Holistic Support: Covers the entire overseas education journey—from selection to settlement
  • Cost-Effective Access: Public sector-driven model minimizes financial exploitation
  • Strategic Vision: Aligns with Karnataka’s long-term goals of educational equity and global competitiveness

As the program unfolds, thousands of Karnataka’s youth may soon find themselves unlocking global opportunities—empowered, well-informed, and supported every step of the way.
