Common Internship Interview Questions & How to Answer Them?

To mark the first UK show of artist Herni Brande, developers ThemesCamp and German studio schultzschultz have created the Ledge Wooden at Berlin city.

Here are some common internship interview questions along with suggestions on how to answer them effectively:

  1. Tell me about yourself.
    • Keep your response concise and focused on relevant experiences, skills, and interests related to the internship. Highlight key achievements, academic accomplishments, and extracurricular activities that demonstrate your qualifications for the role.
  2. Why are you interested in this internship?
    • Demonstrate your enthusiasm for the company, industry, and specific role. Discuss what attracts you to the internship opportunity, such as the company’s mission, culture, products, or projects. Explain how the internship aligns with your career goals and interests.
  3. What are your strengths?
    • Choose strengths that are relevant to the internship and provide specific examples to support your claims. For example, if the internship requires strong communication skills, you might mention your experience leading group projects or presenting in class.
  4. What are your weaknesses?
    • Be honest but strategic in your response. Choose a weakness that is not critical to the internship and demonstrate how you’re actively working to improve it. For example, you could mention that you sometimes struggle with time management but have implemented strategies to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  5. Tell me about a time when you faced a challenge and how you overcame it.
    • Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your response. Describe a specific challenge or problem you encountered, the actions you took to address it, and the positive outcome or result of your efforts. Focus on your problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work under pressure.
  6. What skills or experiences do you hope to gain from this internship?
    • Discuss your learning objectives and what you hope to achieve during the internship. Highlight specific skills, knowledge, or experiences you’re eager to develop, such as technical skills, industry knowledge, or professional networking.
  7. How do you handle feedback or constructive criticism?
    • Emphasize your openness to feedback and your willingness to learn and grow. Discuss specific instances when you received feedback positively and used it to improve your performance or skills. Demonstrate your ability to listen actively, reflect on feedback, and take appropriate action.
  8. Why should we hire you for this internship?
    • Summarize your qualifications, experiences, and skills that make you the best fit for the internship. Highlight your enthusiasm, dedication, and eagerness to contribute to the team. Provide examples of how your background and strengths align with the requirements of the internship.
  9. Do you have any questions for us?
    • Prepare thoughtful questions that demonstrate your interest in the company, the internship role, and the organization’s culture. Ask about specific projects, team dynamics, career development opportunities, or any recent news or developments within the company.

Don’t forget to rehearse your answers in advance and customise them for each unique internship opportunity. When responding, project confidence, professionalism, and authenticity while showcasing how your personality, experiences, and skill set make you the ideal intern.
