New Delhi, October 2025 – The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across 17 states and Union Territories, aiming to expand access to quality education for children of Central Government employees and underserved communities.
The project, with an outlay of ₹5,862 crore over nine years, will introduce pre-primary Balvatikas in all new schools in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The schools will be set up in priority areas such as aspirational districts, Left Wing Extremism-affected regions, hilly and North-Eastern states, and districts lacking KV presence.
Once operational, the 57 schools are expected to benefit nearly 86,640 students and create over 4,600 permanent teaching and non-teaching posts. With this expansion, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s network—already serving more than 13.6 lakh students in 1,288 schools—will be further strengthened.
