In a landmark move set to redefine India’s artificial intelligence education landscape, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced the launch of India’s first dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) University in Amaravati, in strategic partnership with NVIDIA, the world’s most valuable and influential AI technology company.

The upcoming AI University will serve as a national hub for advanced education, research, and innovation in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (ML). According to the announcement, the institution aims to train nearly 10,000 students over the next two years, creating a strong pipeline of AI-ready talent aligned with global industry standards.

The university’s academic framework will focus on cutting-edge domains such as AI, machine learning, data science, deep learning, high-performance computing, and real-world AI applications across sectors including healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, fintech, defence, and climate technology.

A key highlight of the initiative is the collaboration with NVIDIA, whose expertise in AI hardware, software platforms, and developer ecosystems will play a central role in curriculum design, faculty training, research infrastructure, and hands-on learning. Students are expected to gain exposure to industry-grade AI tools, GPUs, and real-world problem-solving environments, bridging the gap between academia and industry.

Beyond education, the AI University is envisioned as a catalyst for Andhra Pradesh’s startup and innovation ecosystem. By nurturing AI-driven startups, promoting research commercialisation, and enabling industry–academia collaboration, the initiative aims to position Amaravati as a major deep-tech and AI innovation hub in India.

State officials have highlighted that the project aligns with India’s broader goals under Digital India, Skill India, and emerging technology missions, while also supporting the country’s ambition to become a global leader in artificial intelligence and next-generation technologies.

Experts believe that early, structured investment in AI education at this scale will significantly enhance India’s global competitiveness, create high-value employment opportunities, and empower the next generation of innovators to lead in an AI-driven economy.

With this bold step, Andhra Pradesh is not only strengthening its position as a forward-looking technology state but also contributing decisively to India’s long-term AI leadership vision.
