Bengaluru, September 2025: In a significant boost to India’s semiconductor ambitions, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) has partnered with the University at Albany (UAlbany), New York, to launch specialized graduate certificate programs in semiconductor technology.
The collaboration, unveiled during SEMICON India 2025, focuses on critical domains such as semiconductor manufacturing, patterning, processing, and metrology. Classes under this initiative are set to begin in January 2026, with joint curriculum design, faculty training, and access to advanced U.S. research labs.
Officials highlighted that the partnership aligns with India’s national vision of becoming a global semiconductor hub. The courses will not only help bridge the skills gap but also open pathways for Indian engineers and researchers to engage with international semiconductor ecosystems.
“This partnership will strengthen India’s semiconductor workforce pipeline and ensure our graduates are industry-ready for global opportunities,” said a RUAS spokesperson.
The initiative comes at a time when India is making heavy investments in chip fabrication plants and allied industries. The training programs are expected to create a talent pool capable of meeting industry demand, both domestically and abroad.
Industry analysts believe the RUAS–UAlbany tie-up could serve as a model for future academic collaborations in emerging technologies, ensuring Indian students gain hands-on expertise while boosting bilateral educational and technological ties.
