Jaipur, August 19:
In a major step towards strengthening career preparedness among school students, the Rajasthan School Education Council has launched a Comprehensive Career Guidance Portal for classes 9 to 12. The initiative, unveiled on Monday, aims to provide structured counseling, resources, and real-time career opportunities to students in government senior secondary schools across the state.
The portal, accessible at cg.rajasthan.gov.in, offers a wide range of services including resume building, internship opportunities, and vocational training information. Covering over 600 career options across 23 sectors—such as Information Technology, Agriculture, Law, Media, and Healthcare—the platform seeks to guide students in making informed choices about their future.
To ensure effective implementation, the council has also rolled out an annual calendar for career counseling. Activities will include group discussions, parent-student interaction sessions, expert seminars, and CV-writing workshops. Teachers will receive dedicated training to act as career mentors, ensuring that guidance reaches students at the grassroots level.
Officials said the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes career readiness and skill development from the school level. “This portal will serve as a bridge between classroom learning and real-world opportunities. It will empower students to explore different pathways and prepare for higher education, entrepreneurship, or direct employment,” a senior education department official said.
Educationists have welcomed the move, noting that it addresses a long-standing gap in systematic career counseling in schools. With many students in rural and semi-urban areas often lacking exposure to diverse career fields, the portal is expected to democratize access to guidance and opportunities.
The portal is now live and students, parents, and teachers are being encouraged to actively engage with its resources. Authorities plan to evaluate its impact at the end of the academic year and make further improvements based on student feedback.
