In a landmark move to strengthen higher education infrastructure, the Government of Assam has announced the establishment of 10 new Government Model Colleges that will begin operations from the 2025–26 academic session. The following colleges have been approved and will soon be operational under the academic jurisdiction of various state universities:

- Government Model Women’s College, Harisinga (Udalguri)
- Government Model Degree College, Chirang
- Government Model Degree College, Majuli
- Government Model Degree College, Borsola (Sonitpur)
- Government Model Women’s Degree College, Mangaldai
- Government Model Women’s Degree College, Golakganj (Dhubri)
- Government Model Degree College, Majar Alga (Dhubri)
- Government Model College, Lahorighat (Morigaon)
- Government Model College, Samaguri (Nagaon)
These colleges will be affiliated with leading universities such as Gauhati University, Dibrugarh University, Assam University, and Bodoland University, depending on their respective locations.

Each institution will offer undergraduate degree programs in the following streams:
