According to a recent report by Bain & Company, India’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector is projected to generate over 2.3 million job openings by 2027. The report highlights a significant talent gap, with the AI talent pool expected to reach only about 1.2 million professionals, indicating a shortfall of over 1 million skilled workers. This underscores the pressing need for reskilling and upskilling initiatives to prepare the workforce for emerging AI roles. While NASSCOM has reported on the rapid growth of India’s AI market, projecting it to reach $17 billion by 2027, the specific job creation figures are attributed to Bain & Company’s findings.
The rise of AI is also expected to reshape existing roles while creating new career avenues in data analysis, AI model development, cybersecurity, and AI product management. Additionally, there is a growing need for educators, trainers, and researchers to strengthen the talent pipeline.
